Jon is a guitarist, singer, songwriter and performer with over 30 years of experience playing, writing, recording and working in music.

Jon has extensive experience in community music and music education. In his role as a Music Project Lead with a long-standing charity, he delivered one-to-one guitar tuition alongside group sessions in songwriting, jamming, music production and recording. He worked with students of a wide range of ages, abilities and backgrounds, using music to help build confidence, creativity and social connection.

Alongside teaching, Jon has many years of practical experience in recording and music production, helping artists develop songs, record performances and understand the process of turning an idea into a finished recording. This hands-on experience gives his students the opportunity to learn not just how to play guitar, but how their instrument fits into songwriting, recording and making music with others.

His approach to teaching is friendly, patient and supportive, with lessons adapted to the individual rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach. Whether you’re picking up a guitar for the first time, returning to it after a break, or simply want to learn the songs you love, Jon believes learning an instrument should be enjoyable and rewarding rather than intimidating or overly focused on exams.

His experience in community music has also given him particular insight into supporting learners who may not feel comfortable in traditional learning environments. Student feedback highlights his patience, encouragement and ability to explain things clearly, while helping learners develop confidence and progress at their own pace.

Jon remains actively involved in the local music scene as a singer, guitarist, songwriter, recording engineer and live music organiser, giving him a broad practical understanding of performing, songwriting, recording, playing with other musicians and the wider music industry.
