Piano Tutor | Vocal Tutor | Classroom Specialist

Charlotte Nash

“Hi, I’m Chaz and I am a Vocal and Piano Tutor here at XYZ Music Academy. I have always had an interest in Music from a very young age, from performing in school shows as I have a love of Musical theatre, and developing my performance skills on the piano through performing at Chesham Arts Festival every year throughout my school life. I studied Music at GCSE and A Level and then furthered my education in Music by studying a BMUS with Instrumental and Vocal Teaching at the University of Chichester. While at University I helped form the Musical Theatre Society where we performed regular showcases and I then became the Social Secretary of the society organising regular events. I also joined many ensembles alongside studying Music such as the Ascension Singers, Acapella Choir, The Gospel Choir, and the Piano Group.

After University I worked in hospitality and was in charge of organising and performing at Music events for The Chequers Inn Weston Turville, such as Weddings, Funerals, Parties, St George’s dinner, Burns night, and New Year’s Eve events.  I then worked as a Teaching Assistant for a year at The Misbourne School where I enjoyed working with children with SEN needs and, while here I completed an Understanding Autism course. My experience as a Teaching Assistant inspired me to want to teach in the classroom, I, therefore, began my teacher training at The Misbourne School in 2017 teaching ages 11-16. It was here I gained experience in running extracurricular Music activities such as helping direct Music for the school show School of Rock and running the Young Voices Choir. I then graduated with a PGCE in Secondary Music Teaching.

I then worked at The Buckingham School as a Secondary Music teacher for four years where helped embed Music into the school setting up the school Choir, Rock band, and Piano group, and worked as Musical Director for the school shows Singing in the Rain, Mary Poppins, and Matilda. I have experience teaching GCSE Music, BTEC Music, and KS3 Performing Arts in Music, Drama, Dance, and Stagecraft.

I started at XYZ in September 2022 where I have been teaching Piano lessons, Vocal lessons, and the Primary school Music curriculum and am really enjoying being part of such a wonderful and talented team of Musicians. Outside work I enjoy performing regularly in a country rock duo Red Label, and a Jazz duo The Blondettes. The skills I have gained through teaching and performing have enabled me to offer a depth of knowledge and a range of musical styles and genres within my teaching when preparing students for performances, and exams, or just helping to inspire their confidence and love of music.”
