Anti-Bullying Policy
XYZ Music Academy is committed to providing all students with a safe, supportive, and respectful learning environment. Bullying, in any form, will not be tolerated, whether in one-to-one lessons, small-group sessions, or whole-class settings. This policy reflects our commitment to upholding the same high standards for anti-bullying as many Buckinghamshire-based schools.
Definition of Bullying
Bullying is defined as repeated, intentional behaviour that is intended to harm, intimidate, or humiliate another person. It can be physical, verbal, emotional, or even digital (cyberbullying).
Bullying can include:
● Name-calling, teasing, or making derogatory remarks.
● Physical aggression, such as hitting or pushing.
● Social exclusion or spreading rumours.
● Threatening or intimidating behaviour.
● Harassment or manipulation in digital spaces (cyberbullying).
Our Commitment:
1. Zero Tolerance: XYZ Music Academy has a zero-tolerance policy for bullying. Every student deserves to feel safe, respected, and supported during their time with us.
2. Learning Environment: Bullying in any lesson format—one-to-one, small-group, or whole-class—will not be permitted. All students must contribute to creating an environment that is:
○ Ready: Prepared to learn and engage.
○ Respectful: Considerate of others’ feelings, ideas, and rights.
○ Safe: Behaving in ways that protect the physical and emotional well-being of everyone.
Reporting and Response
● Immediate Action: Any instances of bullying should be reported to a teacher, staff member, or appropriate authority immediately. All concerns will be taken seriously and investigated promptly.
● Support: Both the victim and the perpetrator will be provided support, with a focus on restoring respectful relationships and preventing further incidents.
● Parental Involvement: Where necessary, parents or guardians will be informed, and discussions will be held to ensure a collaborative approach to resolving the issue.
Consequences of Bullying
● Warning: For minor first-time offences, a verbal warning will be issued, emphasising the need for respectful behaviour.
● Removal from Lessons: Ongoing bullying will result in the immediate removal of the student from the lesson setting. The student may not return until the issue has been satisfactorily addressed.
● Termination of Lessons: In severe or repeated cases, the student’s enrollment in lessons may be terminated to ensure the safety and well-being of all students.
At XYZ Music Academy, we believe that everyone has the right to enjoy learning music in a positive, friendly, and supportive environment. We are dedicated to ensuring that this remains a reality for all our students.
