Special Educational Needs Policy:

We believe that all children are of equal value and that we have the responsibility to ensure high-quality, balanced provision for all children in our care to help them to reach their full potential as learners. Children with special educational needs are entitled to exactly the same access and opportunity as all other children. Children with special educational needs have the right and entitlement to be fully included in all activities within the club. We have a responsibility to meet the needs of all children, including those with special educational needs. The nature of support given to children with special educational needs should not be a barrier to children being fully included in my setting and in the communities in which they live and learn.

Activities will be adapted to enable all children the opportunity to take part. The company will endeavour to ensure that all children’s individual needs are met. Children will be treated as individuals and respected. Medical, cultural and dietary needs will be met. The Club will try to accommodate parental needs when planning meetings and events.

Principles

The entitlement of all children to receive a broad and balanced curriculum; they have a right to achieve success and fulfilment of their potential.

Working together with parents, carers and other agencies to provide access to high-quality education and care for children with special educational needs and disability.

Recognition that many factors influence whether a child has special educational needs and disability.

Responsibilities:

To meet the needs of all children including those with SEND through a broad, balanced and appropriate activities.

To ensure we are aware of and follow the requirements and guidance contained in the SEND Code of Practice.
To respond flexibly and creatively in providing for children with SEND, taking into account their knowledge, preferred learning styles, strengths and weaknesses.

To identify and make use of relevant sources of training, advice and expertise. To share good practice and support parents. To take a lead in the early identification, assessment and intervention strategies for children with SEND. To take careful account of the views of children and parents in making arrangements to meet children’s’ needs and disability.

To monitor and evaluate SEND provision regularly, however we would work with the school to ensure that we are implementing the same strategies in our setting.

To meet the child’s needs we as a club will assess to see if the child would need provisions in place for example: one to one, if the setting is right for the child etc.
